After experiencing what we did in 2020 when the world was brought to its knees and businesses collapsed, very few could have imagined that there would be an even more severe outbreak of Covid in 2021.
Our hearts go out to all the families that have lost their loved ones. While we are blessed we play a sport that can maintain social distancing and no contact, I urge all of you to please be careful and follow all health protocols and most importantly stay safe and healthy.
Today we are blessed that many of our golf courses have reopened and it is good to see so many more new players taking to the greens. This has directly helped the retail golf equipment business and with many courses upgrading their facilities, there is a good rub off for those in the course maintenance equipment business.
Events have certainly been negatively impacted but with the PGA tour, Europe and Japan all back on track, a handful of our players like Rahil Gangjee, Shubhankar Sharma, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Anirban Lahiri, SSP Chowrasia and Gaganjeet Bhullar have been fortunate to be able to ply their trade. The same is the case with our lady professionals including Tvesa Malik, Diksha Dagar, Astha Madan and in America Aditi Ashok.
The time now is for normalcy to return and the Asian Tour, PGTI, WGAI and the IGU to come back with a bang and we wish them well in their future endeavours.
Hopefully, the second half of this year will bring some cheer and a big smile back on all our golfers’ countenances.
Stay safe everyone,
Brandon de Souza
