President’s Message – July 2021

Dear Golfer,

It is fantastic to see so many global sporting events on our television screens including the Euro 2020, cricket, tennis, PGA & European golf though there are not many more exciting multinational events than the much-awaited Olympics.  Postponed by a year because of the pandemic Japan and the full organising team of these games need to be congratulated on how they have handled this delay and their incredible preparation & detailing of the arrangements so visible in the pictures shared with the media.

Most exciting for us is that three of our homegrown golfing stars are confirmed as part of the golf event. It would be a fairytale ending if Aditi, Anirban or Udayan could now have a podium finish.

There is, seemingly, an air of positivity today that the pandemic has been brought under control. But, with a looming fear of a third wave, we all need to continue to be very cautious and ensure the highest level of sanitisation is maintained in all our surroundings till we have most of us vaccinated.

As the Golf Industry Association, we have been reaching out to the different clubs to ensure vaccination of the labour & staff along with thorough cleaning and sanitisation of all the plant & machinery. For anyone regularly riding golf carts at your home club please ensure these are well cleaned before using them.

All of us have been impacted by this Covid pandemic one way or the other and worse, lost so many friends & family, so please continue to be very careful and stay safe & healthy.

Stay safe everyone,

Brandon de Souza

President, Golf Industry Association
