Golf Summit 2022 to be held at Qutub Golf Club on 13-14 Oct

The Board of the Golf Industry Association is proud to announce the Golf Summit 2022 to be held on 13th-14th October at Qutub Golf Club, New Delhi. The exhibition and conference will bring together Golf Industry leaders from around India and the Asian region in what will be an informative learning and networking experience for all concerned. On the 13th October (Thursday), the Summit will involve a 2022 Golf Clubs Challenge (18 Holes) where invited teams will enjoy the newly renovated Qutub Golf Course. On the 14th October (Friday), it will be the turn of invited Developers to play 18 Holes.

The conference will involve both International and domestic specialist speakers covering a range of topics including Club Management, Golf Tourism, Golf Development, the Environment, Infrastructure for Golf, growing the game and generating profits from Golf.

A Turf Management program is being jointly developed by GIA and GCS&MAI as a parallel conference for Golf Course Superintendents and Managers.

On the Thursday night GIA will also announce the winners of the GIA Golf Awards – 2022.

The Exhibition (in association with the conferences) will bring together Golf Industry experts supporting all aspects of the Golf Course who will be on hand to discuss the latest information, technology and options for sustainable golf.

Keynote Speakers

  • Mark Sigel – Topic: “Developing Golf Tourism – Learning from Thailand & Vietnam”

Mark Siegel is the owner and Managing Director of Golfasian, – voted in 2020 as the ‘World’s Best Golf Tour Operator.’ In 2019 Golfasian handled over 20,000 golf tourists, who played 150,000 rounds. Golfasian also maintains the most comprehensive website concerning golf in Asia, www.golfasian.com and holds seats on predominant golf course rating panels.

Before starting Golfasian, Mark spent 25 years in the semiconductor industry. His last position was Assistant Vice President at Applied Materials, where he was responsible for SE Asia service and US$1 billion in annual sales. Mr. Siegel currently resides in Bangkok with his wife and 17-year-old son. He works on strategy, business development, and client relations at Golfasian. Combined with this, he golfs 2-3 times a week and plays off a 12 handicap.

His experience with Golf Tourism across Asia will give valuable insights into what India needs to do to further develop this important and lucrative tourism segment.

  • Chris Gray – Topic: “Sustainable Golf Development”

In March 2020, The R&A announced the appointment of Chris Gray as the head of sustainability and agronomy for Asia-Pacific. Hailing from Victoria, Gray has over 30 years of knowledge and experience having worked extensively as an agronomic consultant, golf course superintendent and golf course project manager in the Asia-Pacific, Central Asia and Middle East regions.

Most recently Gray held the position of director of agronomy and golf redevelopment at The Singapore Island Country Club and has been an agronomic consultant on a number of PGA Tour, European Tour and LPGA tournaments in the region. Gray’s role at The R&A primarily focuses on sustainability practices and providing agronomic assistance to The R&A’s championships in the region, working closely with The R&A’s sustainability and agronomic teams at the Home of Golf, St Andrews.

  • Declan McCollam / Topic: “Key Golf Management Issues for a High-Quality Facility”

Declan McCollam is General Manager at the Prestige Golfshire Club & Prestige Augusta Golf Village in Bangalore, both of these facilities are managed by Troon Golf and have the reputation of being among the best in India.

He has spent the past 22 years with Troon Golf across the Globe in multiple senior roles in Europe, UK, Australasia, USA and Middle East. Has been involved in the building and opening of over 15 new courses in five countries.

Declan was the Business Development Advisor for Troon for 6 years in Australia and Asia whilst the GM at Brookwater GCC in Queensland Australia, while based in Australia he has held the General Managers role at two of Australia’s top 25 courses with Troon Golf.

Prior to his time at Troon he spent 12 years in Germany as a Golf Professional – Owned and Operated own business for the last 9 years in Germany including a Golf Academy that operated in both Germany and the USA in the European winter.

Declan is a registered PGA Golf Professional – PGA of Australia and played multiple tours on and off over a three-year period in the late 80’s. He has spent several years on the PGA state bodies in both Western Australia and Queensland.
