GIA West Zone Conference on Club Management & Water Conservation

Pune, 19th October: The first GIA West Zone Conference held at Oxford Golf Resort, Pune on Monday Oct. 19th received a tremendous response from experts in the golf industry. It was attended by over 20 delegates from Maharashtra & Gujarat and featured all the leading golf clubs and manufacturers.

Hooking the audience was experienced Canadian Golf Club consultant James Quilley - President- Emerald Golf. James spoke in depth about the Complexity of Golf Facility Business and gave several insightful tips to club owners & managers which they would look to keenly implement immediately. James gave tested ideas on enhancing overall footfalls at Golf facilities by adopting simple techniques which yield more revenue over a period of time. His key message was to make a customer friendly approach in all segments of a Golf Facility right from the time customer begins contact with the facility.

Paul Reeves – Director – Pacific Coast Design, Australia was also a key speaker and guided club management & owners on Water Conservation techniques. Paul focused on the new age scientific approach & techniques to reduce use of water in day to day greens management. He enlightened the audience on ways a golf facility could reduce water consumption by up to 30 percent.

At the end of the discussion, delegates gained several tips & insight but two key takeaways were:
1. The Need to adopt more customer centric approach to attract more footfalls at a Golf facility i.e. relaxation in dress code, free / discounted green fee etc.
2. Indian Golf courses need to adapt scientific approach to reduce water intake for golf facility.

The conference was followed by informal cocktails and snacks where the delegates were able to further exchange views and ideas.
